I'm working on a 2001 Kohler Gen set. (Used boat) When I pulled the "drain ? plug that has a zinc anode attached, it didn't. The instructions on the heat exchanger say check every 6 mo. This one has never been out. What I got was a plug with some crud attached. BUT? When I pushed a probe in the hole I could feel More crud blocking the hole. I'm not sure exactly what I'm feeling. Have any of you gen. mechanics have a suggestion?

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,..

While I'm not a Generator Mechanic,...
I am a General Mechanic...

I'd be putting some water to this system you're working on,+ along with your choice of probe,...
I'd be making sure that this "Drain",.. Drains....

If it means total disassembley,... So be it...

However far you have to go,... Just go back with Fresh Parts,+ everything'll be just Fine....
