Taking off a lower unit

When you drop a 1987 suzuki dt140 lower unit, do you put it in neutral and can the tilt be straight up and down or can it be tilted up a little?

Yes, leave it in neutral, and you can have it tilted some, just be mindfull of the shaft, you do not want to bend it.

Put the motor in full up position. Less risk of it dropping and catching you unawares. It is heavy. Wearing leather work gloves will help.
