Re: steering cable

I replaced the cable on my boat reciently. Because of the way they ran the cable at the factory, it was easier to take a sawsall and cut the cable into pieces then remove the pieces. Then I measured for a new cable, and took the most direct route from helm to motor, like it is on my other boat. Installing the new one was easy, and works smooth.

Re: steering cable

there are 2 type cable/helm connection, quick connect, that has a hole in the side, that you insert a pin into, and turn the wheel to the left, the there is the cable with the nut on it, that you loosen the nut, and turn the wheel to left.
disconnecting the helm first makes, disconnecting the motor easier.

disconnect the link arm to motor, from cable end, remove big nut on starboard side of the motor, hopefull the cable will slide out. if you have tight work space, you may have to remove motor mounting bolts, and lift motor, to get old cable out and new one in. Cherry Picker advised with that motor.
