Finding value of an outboard

Hi all,

This is my first post here...I hope I am following protocol.

My question is, where do I go to most accurately estimate the value to set a price on an outboard motor I am selling? I have a 15hp Johnson that is about 10 years old. I have no idea what to ask and have not really been able to find anything comparable to be able to set a price. Is there an "Edmunds" type pub for outboards?

Any ideas? Thanks

Welcome to iboats.

There is a site called www.nada.com, although I personally feel that they undervalue. The best way is to look in your local classifieds, or online classifieds such as ebay or craigslist, to determine its value.

The value will be based on its running condition, your geographical location, time of year, and its physical condition.

Re: Finding value of an outboard

It is almost impossible to set a value as it is based on so many factors like High Trim said. A 15 hp will sell good in the spring and fall around here for the hunters and the fisherman, but not as well in the winter or summer. Like High trim said look to see what they have sold for recently. I would think a 10 yr 15hp in good shape would bring 4-500 at the right time.
