Hello all,
Just picked up a '89 Bayliner Capri with a 2.3L I/O. Trying to nurse it back to health. Fellow who owned it was more of a boat rider then a boat owner so I'm now in the process of doing long overdue "routine" maintenance.
Changed the oil/oil filter the other day along with the fuel/water seperator. Started the boat to circulate the oil and recheck level. Ran for about 2 min. with a rough idle. Increased RPM's just a hair, thinking maybe air trapped in fuel line due to seperator change, as I throttled back to idle the engine quit. Attempted to restart and it just continues to crank over. I think the next step is to pull the fuel line and check for fuel then pull the plugs and check for spark, however I'm pretty sure it's a fuel problem since it ran just fine up to the filter change. Any suggestions or hints would be greatly appreciated as I'd love to take it out for it's maiden voyege this weekend.
There is a spring on the choke plate linkage (from the vacuum advance to the carb) which appears to be disconnected or out of place. Not sure but I'll try to post a pic.
Thanks So Much! Such an excellent site!
