Re: Tow capacity help

I assume it is a 5 speed. . .?

It isn't going to be much. I would guess 1500 to 2000#.

Ask Ford. Give them the VIN and they can look it up.

Re: Tow capacity help

Trailerboats.com lists tow capacity at 2000 lbs and requires auto tranny to tow.

Probably at the max for the truck but it could tow it.

I'm also located in Berlin CT.

Where your truck might have a problem is if the ramp is steep and ungrooved and your tires are stock (like the old Firestones Ford use to use). The Ranger is light in the back and sometime requires a little weight (like a buddy or a piece of concrete) to keep the tires from spinning up a steep, wet ramp.

Re: Tow capacity help

I use a 1994 2.3L 5 speed two wheel drive Ranger for towing all the time, its fine up to about 2,500 lbs or so but doesn't like to launch anything over about 1,500 due to traction and the tall gears.
