I have a 2000 sea ray 240 bravo II that has suddenly lost reverse and neutral ,the shifter feels like it is working correctly and the throttle works as it should but when you move the shifter to neutral or reverse it is still in forward. There was no prior indication of a problem I just pulled the shifter up into the neutral position after a short ride and it idles down but stays in gear.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: bravo II shift problem

Pull the outdrive and look at 2 things. The shift cable, make sure it is working where it goes into the outdrive and that the swaged end is on the drive. Make sure the cable isn't broken.
Also look at the shift mechanism in the drive. Sometimes they can get bent and the cable pulls out. Especially if the engine dies when in gear and someone has to Force it out of gear.
