We recently purchased this and when we first got it, the motor would start only sometimes from the key. We took it out a couple of times like this and dealt with the fact that we would have to resort to jump starting at the solenoid. We have replaced the ignition switch. Still, it would only start at the key when it felt like it. It is now to the point where it will not start at all from the key, only by jump starting it. We bought a new starter and still the same problem. The battery is always fully charged and when you turn the key, there is not even an attempt to turn the boat over. Acts as if there is no power at all. I know we are getting power because when you turn the key half way, our fish finder beeps. Any suggestions would be great.

disconnect the connections at the solenoid and the switch and clean them. Might also want to do a continuity check on the ignition wires from key switch to engine.

You have a broken wire, or dirty contact.

If you have some help you can take the small wire loose from the solenoid and put a multimeter on it. Have another person turn the start key to start. You should get battery voltage at the wire end. If not then there is a problem with the wire between the switch and the solenoid. If it checks correctly then its the connections

Check the safety switch!! Know what it needs before buying parts.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be as simple as adjusting the nuteral safty switch.

Good call on the neutral safety switch.

OK. I am going to relay all of these options to my husband when I get home from work. Just to be clear, is the neutral safety adjustment inside the casing where the ignition switch is attached? Thanks for all the help.

Yes it's inside the remote console.

I would think that if it is the neutral safety switch then a wiggle of the throttle handle might get a start results. Just might!:)
