Greasing Gimbal Bearing

I've got a new gimbal bearing that I'm getting ready to install (as soon as the tools arrive). Anyway, the manual says to line it up with the grease hole, if it has one... well, mine doesn't seem to have one (Pre-Alpha drive). There appears to be SOME grease in the bearing already, but I'm guessing I'm supposed to put more in before I install it. Anybody got any secret ways of greasing these things, without spending more money on tools? Or am I going to have to buy some special gimbal bearing greasing tool?

Check on the right of the transom assy. There is a grease fitting about half way down.Run your fingers there it might be covered in grease.Or covered with a plastic cap. This is the passage to the gimbal.Jerry

The pre-alpha's didn't have provision to grease the bearing. Do a search - someone made a creative tool to grease the bearing - they made it out of an old gimbal bearing if memory serves me correctly.

So then, is the grease that's in the bearing, sufficient, until it comes time to re-grease in the future? It's already in the "carrier" (?), so it would have to be taken apart to grease it. There is grease in there, but I don't know if it needs more or not. It's a brand new bearing.

How much grease, one never knows what the factory put in.
pop the bearing out and grease it, pop back in the carrier and install with the slots facing aft to remove it once a year to grease it.
