so i have a carburetor rebuild kit for my 1955 7.5hp and i notice that it does not have a fuel filter bowl gasket. actually no kit i have seen online has one. the one that was in there originally is ok..a few cracks but not too brittle...but obviously i would like a new one. Also, do i need a new fuel filter element? where do i find this? one more question - the packing washers that were in the needle holes are rotted and stuck to the carburetor. any suggestions on getting them completley off? thanks

The filter bowl gasket is part number BRP 303122 and is available from your dealer for about $4. Spray the filter with carb cleaner and blow out with compressed air. I use a pick and a small slotted screw driver to remove all the old packing. Be very careful not to score anything. I've had some that were so bad that it took a shot of gasket remover to remove them.
