1957 johnson

I have a javlin 35 hp Johnson one of the spark plugs were striped out so I replaced it with another cylinder head that I have on another motor . Both motors are same year the one I replaced it with is a evinrude. Will changing this cause a loss of power ?? I cleaned carb, replaced coil and points rebuilt fuel pump . it is a single line type. it idles pretty good but no top in very boggy will not plane out. Please help..

Evinrude of the same year shares the same cylinder head so no worries.

What if the packing around the jets are in bad condition will that also cause no power ? thanks...

If the packing around the jets is in bad condition then you didn't clean the carb properly. Revisit your carb. Recheck your ignition.

Loss of power could be a few things. How about some more detail after you finish checking the carb and ignition.

Right, check compression and spark. You are running on one cylinder. Figure out why by doing those tests. The carburetor feeds both cylinders, so that is not the problem.
