'84 15HP Evinrude. Sputters at full throttle

Hi,

My 15 HP is runs fine at full throttle for several seconds (couple minutes) and then beings sputtering. To fix the problem, I simply continuously squeeze the ball on the fuel line to the engine and the engine begins to run fine again for as long as keep squeezing it. I assume this is some sort of fuel system problem. Can anyone advise me as to where i should start fixing this problem?!? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to iboats Jim.

What you are doing is acting as the fuel pump. May be time for it to be rebuilt or replaced. Check the sticky at the top of the Johnny/Rude forum.
