I recently replaced all of my ignition on a 1996 5.7 alpha 1 o/d.....I didn't have a consistent spark....come to find outmy neutral safety was stuck....after replacing the e pickup cleaning the cap and rotor, coil, coil wire, i was able to run the boat for about 5 miles...then it stopped completely.. I had intermittent spark form a short time then none at all... the next day I was able to run the motor but it kept cutting out..now I have no spark at all.....I have tryed to bypass both the N safety and the run stop switches cleaned all connections that I can think of....I need a schematic for this motor any links or thoughts....help please I am stranded at the dock....Chris........P.s was told that the ignition module was an item that either worked or not....????

The neutral safety switch has nothing to do with the ignition, only with the starter being allowed to operate or not.

Make yourself a "Hot wire" and attach it to the + battery terminal and the small + terminal on the coil and see how it works. This eliminates your ignition switch and everything up to the engine.
Then see how it works. To shut the engine off, you WILL have to remove the wire. The ign sw. will not shut it off. (it's bypassed)
