Hello All.
I'm replacing the powerhead on my 1990 FORCE 120 due to low comp on bottom cyl. I have a good powerhead from an L-Drive that I want to use. The problem is that the exhaust plates do not match. Everything use bolts up. I removed the manifold from the L-drive and intended to use the plate from the original, the outer dimension is the same but the water passages are different. Will a plate from an older outboard work? Does anyone have one? Thanks

The crankshaft on the L drive is balanced differently to account for it being mounted horizontally. I don't know what effect this would have in a vertical outboard mounting.

You will have gone through all the trouble of removing the powerhead from the outboard so for a little more work and few hundred bucks you can have it bored oversized and replace the piston with oversized too.
