Re: oil presure problem

20 pounds at idle is not really that bad.I would hook a manual gauge up just to be sure thats not the problem.
I'm sure some of the engine pros here will have some input.

by the way,WELCOME TO IBOATS!

Check it with a mechanical gauge like Gary mentioned. You should see a minimum of 30 PSI at 2000 rpm and 7 PSI Minimum at idle.
Did this just suddenly happen or happen after some other work was done on the engine? Like an oil and filter change?

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,......

The answers to Don's questions will make it easier to give you meaningful Answers.....

Old Motorheads always say that 10lbs. per 1000rpms will suffice for a Chevy,......
But,.... Without some History,..??.....

Change the oil (obviously check for water/excessive fuel)and recheck it. Make sure your not overfilling.

Run and check the engine with a mechanical gauge BEFORE you start changing things. so you have some base line to go by.
It happened suddenly, but was it during a trip, or after some repairs.
Like Bondo mentioned, give us some help and explain what happened and when, how long, all the good stuff that we can't be there to see.
