Tilt/Trim 1978 Evinrude 115hp Model 115899C

I have a 1978 Evinrude 115hp model 115899C. I cant find the power trim switch or does it have a power trim, cant get the motor up by hand.I would like to wire one up if I knew what to do.

Welcome to iboats.

That model came stock with a TNT unit. Has it been removed? There should be a switch on the throttle control on the remote control.

I dont see any switches anywhere,I see where the wires run to a junction box and then to the throttle control,It looks like someone has removed it.Is there anyway to lift the motor manually?

OK I found the switch for the tilt but hooked up the batt. and no power to the tilt.Engine will turn over.what color wires run to the junction box from the tilt.

Either a 2 or 3 wire setup.
The wires are blue and green on a 2 wire or blue,red and green on a 3 wire unit
There should be a relay box in the rear of the boat.The wires from the switch run to the relay then to the pump.If you find the blue and green wires from the pump motor you can touch both to a battery to test the pump,blue on the battery + and green to battery - will lower the tilt.Reverse that and it should raise.

Ok that worked tilt went up and down,so I guess I need a new switch?

No not necessarily. Although that is possible. All that tells you definately is that the trim motor is operational. There may be corrosion, wiring issues, etc...

As Gary asked, what colour wires are coming off the top of the trim motor?

I put some cleaner on the tilt switch and after a few mins. it started working fine. Thanks for all your help.
