Seal(ant) of approval?

Going to change out the impeller in my 1975 OMC 175 stringer. My book says to use permatex #2 to seal the impeller plate to the impeller housing and swivel housing. I have some permatex ultra blue, and some permatex hi-temp rtv red. Is either of these OK, or is #2 different alltogether?

Also, it says to use 3M sealer EC1300 as an adhesive to install the new spline seal. I haven't been able to find this particular sealant locally. Is there an equivilant product I could use?

Thanks in advance!

Permatex #2 is readily available and should be used.

3M EC1300 is the same as 3M Scotchgrip or you can use Mercruiser's bellows adhesive. :)

Permatex #2 is NOT the same as any of the Permatex silicones. The #2 does not ever set up like a silicone. It stays "sticky" forever. You can get it at any auto parts place.

Thanks for the tips guys! Went out and got the correct stuff today. Time for teardown, wish me luck! This thing hasn't been apart for 10+ yrs!
