I just got new points, water pump, and carb rebuilt. It fired right up and runs out of fuel if i push my primer bulb I can keep it running. I took my fuel pump apart and the diaphrams are all dried and brittle. I was gonna get a new pump but I can't find one here at Iboats for a 1972 25hp Johnson. The one for the 15hp 1990 and up looks like it would fit but not sure. I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas of if that pump will work or where I can find one.

I would use the OEM pumps that are on the Johnson 25HP 1999 up.

A tad off topic, but I just got a '73 25hp Evinrude and it doesn't have points. It's got that new fangled ignition with the coils mounted on the block. Did they stop using points after the '72 model year? Is that when ignition systems started going downhill and getting way to hard and expensive to fix?

Samo, a 1973 has points and condensers under the flywheel, along with a "driver" coil. The spark coils are mounted externally. That system is called a "low tension" magneto.

CD electronic ignitions came later and they have a power pack in plain sight.
