Just have to post this here to vent... I got my bellows service kit from GLM via ebasicpower this week. Just opened it, and of course GLM packed the U-joint bellows so they were pushing up under the tape right at the center of the box.

Just perfect for nicking with a sharp blade even if you're being careful with a knife. Not all the way through fortunately for me, but still darned annoying.

I'm going to repair the nick with rubber cement... looks to be about halfway through the rubber on one ridge.

Ebasicpower packed the parts really well... GLM seems to leave a lot to be desired, though.

Bummer, I would not use the repaired ones though....
You are looking at premature failure & lo$$ of a gimbal bearing, u joints or drive over a $50 part......
It would just bug me knowing it was there.....
+ it is a job ya only want to do every seven years or so, imho.....;)
I don't think they would make good on user error Dave_1......;)
Welcome to iboats, btw.......:)

I second that, bellows are ooohh so much fun to do and the boat can sink if your "repair" fails. I would bite the bullet and buy a new one if was me.

Ebasic has great customer service.Give them a call and explain what happened. They may send you one at a reduced price or for just shipping..
Its not worth putting that one on,why risk it?

sounds like typical chineeze packaging to me....... impossible to open.....
i wouldn't use it either if its got a slice in it...... the bellows is the difference between high and dry and blurb blurb blurb......

GLM seems to leave a lot to be desired, though.
that's the same conclussion i've come too......

All in all, it's just another brick in the wall............. against aftermarket parts.

I've heard that the quality of their parts is not so good. One of the local boat mechanix says GLM stands for Good Luck Marine!
BTW, what does everyone think of the Sierra stuff?
I got an impeller kit for my Cobra as a spare and it looks the same as OMC OE stuff, anyone use them over the long term?

Well, I bit the bullet and ordered a new one. Also a wrench to take the sterndrive apart and some hydraulic lines.

I'm gonna open this package with a dull scissors I think.
