Are catfish traps good this time of the year?

Whats the best place to put em? shallow or deep?

Depends on where you live and the type of catfish you want to get.

The colder it is there, the deeper you'll want to set it though.

i want flatheads, channels, and blues. and its warmin up slowly here highs between 50 and 65 and lows anywhere from 30 to 50.

Each one of those is in a different location this time of year.
Fatheads deep and still
Channels in the the channels where the current is flowing and slower on feeding but not dead
Blues deep and will feed on cut bait.
My experience only.

I would drop it in a channel that is about the mid depth of the lake.
Bait with cheese and liver or take dog food in a can and liver/fish combo cat food in a can and punch holes in it and drop in the trap.

I'm not sure where Sikes is located but I'm sure hoop nets are prohibited south of I-10 here in Louisiana
