Removing clips on control cables at motor? 2005 Johnson 115

I moved my console forward and need to remove my control cables so I can measure them and order new ones. I took the cover off the motor and looked at the clips that hold the control cables ends onto the arms.

Do they have to be bent to remove them or is there a trick to removing them? Are these re-usable or should I buy new clips? Does the new cables come with new clips?
I have attached some pictures of the clips that I am talking about.

Also what are the best brand control cables to go back with? Teleflex or a different / other brand?

Just grab the loop end and pull to remove them. To reinstall, pull the open end open just enough to push the straight leg thru the hole. Not sure if cables come with new clips. You can substitute by pushing a single tang of a st steel cotter key thru the hole and bending the other tang like the original clip.

cables do not come with clips. remove and replace as above. better too long, than too short, no sharp bends.

Thanks for the reply and link. I have spent hours on the teleflex site and still know nothing more than when I first started looking at new cables.
I have a very hard time finding any useful information on there site.

the ones i noted above have always worked very well. i don't remember what series they are.

I ordered the Teleflex tfextreme cables today. Time will tell if I ordered the right cables.
