Re: Anybody heard of Telstarone communications?

This topic brought up a conversation between my wife, & I,,, Who I consider one of the Best drivers I know. Definitely better, and more cautious then I, but not overcautious. She is just a very good driver, she is also under the impression that the camera won't snap the picture unless the light has turned red, and not before. Aside from the fact that I'm outraged she got that ticket years ago, because she is such a good driver, I guess it's just the fact that it seems so impersonal to get nailed by a computerized camera, But in a way I agree,,, we don't go around blowing red lights, but very rarely accidently do get caught by one, so we breathe a sigh of relief that we haven't gotten a ticket mailed to us yet, aside from this one instance, I suppose I can agree with that concept. I have a friend that used to travel this one road in Queens, and used to blow the red lights, until tickets had appeared in the mail. (they had recently installed camera's) unawares to him, but he stopped that behavior immediately.

Camera's on the interstate for speeders, and easy pass being used as a device to give tickets, because you got from point A to point B too fast is a whole other story. I'd probably be singled out because I'd be the slowest most cautious speeder!,,, the easiest to catch,,, lol

  1. If someone hits you because you stop for a light.....they were following too close.
  2. If you pay attention to the walk/don't walk signal you can tell when the light is about to change. If it isnt flashing "dont walk" but is solid, you may as well prepare to stop.
  3. I also ride a scooter and have NEVER found the need to rush through the intersection as the light is about to go red.
  4. I have friends who have been ticketed on these lights and the safety issue was brought up. They can bring back the pictures........a few had the tickets thrown out

So to me I guess it seems like an excuse to break the law. If you are paying attention as a driver, its almost a non issue. I hate the cameras. I hate them for the same reason as many here. Still not going to try to get around the law. The one good thing about the cameras is that they cause some people to actually drive more safely. Imagine that. What if you are rear ended when you stop abruptly? I would rather have that happen than me hitting someone in the intersection and having it be MY fault.

And once again, regardless of what you want it to be, this is not a motorcycle. It's a scooter. Of course you could close your eyes and pretend it's a motorcycle, but then you might run a red light and get a ticket:D:

Well, if it's not a motorcycle, why do I need motorcycle insurance, a motorcycle endorsement, a motorcycle plate and a motorcycle registration? You might want to check wikipedias definition of a scooter before you truly classify a 100mph, 34hp machine as a "scooter." If anything, it's known as a maxi or super scooter.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scooter_%28motorcycle%29

Pony, being rear ended in a car is one thing, being rear ended on a motorcycle is another. And anyway, why should I have to choose between a ticket or being rear ended? I thought these cameras were supposed to INCREASE safety?!!?!?!?!?

And I've already had one instance that had I sat there tall and proud I would been slammed in the rear. I was at a turn in a road and a car was turning left with the blinker on. I stopped and suddenly hear the telltale very rapid "squeel, silence, squeel silence" of a vehicle's antilock brakes behind me. I looked in my mirror and saw a grill getting big very fast. I nailed the gas and drove around the vehicle in front of me through the grass and debris on the side of the road. When I turned around that truck was about a foot behind the car that was turning. He would have knocked me into next week.

To say that something never happened to you and so it's a weak argument is absolutely ludicrous. Well, an accident may have never happened to you, so are you going to say that wearing a seatbelt is a weak argument for safety? Everybody knows, before you hit your brakes on a bike harder than usual, you better look in your mirror. If someone is following you too close and expects you to go through and you don't......you will be run over, period. I don't care how perfect you think you are.
