1967 Evinrude 9.5 sportwin questions?

I bought a 67 sportwin 9.5 model 9722m from a guy and just wanted to know any info on this motor. It looks like it might only have 30-40 hrs on it. Not even so much as a ding on the bottom half or propeller. It has sat for 5 yrs in his barn and it started for me on the 3rd pull and idled and reved perfectly,shifted forward ,revese perfectly. The pull rope still is pretty new looking. When i was running it,it kinda spit water out instead of peeing it out? I only run it for about 60 second stretches. Now for the best part is i got it for $75.00. So are there any common probs with this motor? Reliable? Thanks

Reliable as all get-out. It doesn't have a tell-tale, so that hole in the back is an exhaust hole. You should get some decent spitting out of there.

If it's been sitting, you want to put in a new impeller. It wouldn't hurt to pull the flywheel and take a look at the coils either. If they haven't been replaced with their more modern cousins, it's only a matter of time.

replace the impeller, and lower unit oil, check the coils as suggested, enjoy. read this. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=158086
