Hi
I'm replacing the Oil pressure switch and the manual states that Loctite 592 with teflon should be used!!

I have tried everywhere today without any luck, is there another ideal sealant here in the U.k. that i can use.
Will i get away with using PTFE tape?

Absolutely!
Motor oil at less than 100 psi is not anything special.

PTFE is rated at 500? F, Loctite 592 is 400? F, neither are affected by fuel gasses or petro-chemicals.

I would not use teflon tape....
Any aviation grade thread sealant will work.....
You should be able to get it at any auto store.....;)

Re: Thread Sealant help

I've been thinking it over, Haut is correct, don't use teflon, (or any tape) on a sender.

Although it is used on hydraulic connections with few problems, a sender needs a good electrical connection.

A layer of tape between the male threads of the sender and the female threads of the block will electrically insulate the sender, rendering it inoperative.

A paste style sealant will allow electrical contact.
