Tach quit working, 115 Mariner

Tach does not read on 1995, 115 Mariner. I have tried replacement tach head in dash with no change. What is the next thing on the motor to check or replace for this problem?

Could be the voltage regulator or rectifier, whichever is on yer motor.

There is a grey wire that goes through several connectors to get to the tach. Any break in that would make it quit.
