Alpha 1 gen 1 or gen 2?

I have a 1993 Mariah diablo that had an Alpha 1 Gen 2 drive that got stolen, am I able to use a Gen 1 drive on the Gen 2 gimbal housing? I have one off a 1986 welcraft America with the same ratio.

Nope, the older style won't work, you need a Gen II drive.

my brother told me that he did it to his.after looking up the two i can see that its not possible.dons rite as usual.wait till i see him tomorrow.

I also have the gimbal housing from the welcraft Gen 1 would I be able to pull out the engine and change the gimbal and outdrive? Will the engine couppler have to be changed?
