is rickracers.com for real?

I am pissed. Three weeks ago I paid for an OMC lifting eye on rickracers.com . It still hasn't arrived (they are in Orlando, I am in Miami), order shows as "pending" on web site, email goes unanswered, calls go to answering machine. Meanwhile my outboard sits on the pallet in my driveway for the third week. I am trying to decide if it is time to cut my loss and order the eye from somewhere. This is really annoying, I live in the hood and a palletized outboard is begging to be stolen. I could've crawled from my house to Orlando and back by now.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say their supplier hasn't supplied them with it yet (aka Item Backordered). But inquiries should be handled, not ignored. Has your payment been processed?

Do you have a flywheel puller? You can put a hefty eyebolt in place of the center puller screw. The center screw is probably fine thread and no, you wont find a fine threaded eyebolt. Just use the largest eyebolt you can that fits in the hole and put a nut on it above and below the puller. I'd say 5/16 at a minimum, bigger for a V-6. I usually braze the eye shut where it curls back around so it can't unbend as I lift. I also get one long enough and grind a point in it so I can snug it up against the crankshaft. It needs to be snug or you'll bend the bolts that screw into the flywheel.

Go to scream and cry....I mean fly.com and ask. He used to be a sponsoring member but has kinda disappeared from the scene. I'd bet someone there knows for sure what happened. I heard a rumor but let's just leave it as that....a rumor.

Call Pro Marine and you'll have one the next day in Fla.

It'd be fine if it was backordered but without any functional points of contact I have no way of knowing how long to wait, I think they might have went out of business or something and didn't close the web site down. The charge did go through but I am sure that was automatic and I can always get a refund from visa. I am going to call Pro Marine today and order the lifter (I didnt see it on their web site) and if they don't have it I'll get one from Bob's Machine Shop. I was thinking of building my own but decided against it just because of the weight.

Thanks,

Just use an automotive puller like was stated, get your motor on your boat, and when the eye shows up return it for a full refund stating why. I don't know why you would have waited so long if you live in a "hood" LOL!

He used to be a good person to deal with. A lot of help and prompt delivery. But this was about 2 years ago so I don't know whats going on now. Like someone said, you might be able to find out here at screamandfly.com.

Re: is rickracers.com for real?

The Bob's Machine lifting eye came in the day after I ordered it this week, so I am good to go for this weekend. I think rickracers.com is probably closed, maybe they had a personal emergency or something and just forgot to close down the site. In any case, my credit card company will handle that without any problem. I'm pretty excited to work with a Johnson now, the engine is so different from the Merc that I had previously.

Thanks all,

The bass turds had the nerve to drop ship the eye to me, unannounced, five weeks after I ordered it (and two weeks after I already got it myself direct from BMC). May they suffer the bite of a thousand mosquitoes!!
