Is it required after pulling and building carbs. And if it is, is it as difficult as it looks in the manual..

Actually it shouldn`t be if you don`t change the levers on the carbs. It`s a good thing to do once in awhile anyway. It`s not expensive to have a dealer do it if you can find one that still deals in carbed engines.

do it step by step
merc manuals are pretty good

remember which carbs goes where

Thanks for all the info. I have read over the procedure and it is'nt all that bad, just at first glance seemed overwhelming, but then again so do a lot of things on an outboard.

By doing the prodecure, am i basically setting up the carbs to be in sync. with timing movement, or do I need to go through the entire procedure and set idle speeds, timing, timing advance, the whole smear......
