1992 yamaha tlrq no start/no spark

first problem since new-cant complain. found no spark at plugs. found open circut through charge coil. replaced. same problem. factory manual doesnt give description/operation for charge coil. anyway new coil checks out at 182 ohms. could someone explain what the charge coil does for the cdi unit? any ideas. thanks, mat4

charge coil
supplies the primary side of coil with volts 100-300 usually
the spark happens when the triggers ignite and sends the cdi unit the right amount of volts
i have a diagram if u want me to scan it in for u

Don't know which motor since the model number is incomplete. Be sure the battery is hot while testing. If the starter doesn't spin fast enough, it won't fire.
