I recently ran across a really nice Merc. V-6 135. It has around 100 hrs. on it, never saw salt water, and is in REALLY nice cosmetic condition. It is a private party selling this and he is asking $3000 for it. Assuming that it completely checks out, is this a reasonable price? Thanks!

Thanks, tashasdaddy, for the response.

Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Might be a tad high for my area. I'd offer $2450.00 and hope for the best...NADA guide price is about $1600.00, but they are always a bit low. But usually never close to half price....Take a peak at Ebay and see what they are going for...

EBay, yeah I did that. This motor is advertised as having only 100 hours on it, never saw salt water, and was always covered after it was run. The nearest thing I could find on eBay to this was an '88 135, with a lot more hours on it than 100, and it went for $1600. I talked to a retailer about this motor. He said he would expect to get between $2500 and $3000 for this motor. And this is a RETAILER! He would provide a 90 warranty, etc. A private party could not do that. Yeah, IF the thing really checks out, I'm thinking of offering like $2300 for it. Gotta sell my other motor and boat first, though.
