what champion spark plug should I use

Yep! back again,

what champion plug do I use for my 89 Johnson 48 special o/b

is it the QL78YC gapped at .030 (or) THE QL16V gapped at .050

according to my manual, QL77JC4 or L77JC4 gapped at .040 if used for slow speed operation, you do a lot of trolling. for high speed QL78V or L78V non adjustable

Boat Setup chart shows QL78YC at .030.

The QL16V is recommended for sustained high speed use.

It refers to whether the engine is equipped with a fuel/oil pump that premixes the oil and gas before it hits the carb inlets.Your 48 special doesn't have OMS or VRO.
