77 omc 175hp. blows fuse in reverse??

have a 1977 omc 175hp recently hit the prop on something and replaced that and took it out and put it in the water backed it up got ready to take it out and it died.. figured the fuse right off the key starter leading to the throtle was blown. took it back home and finely found out everytime i throw it in reverse it blows that same fuse.. any ideas??

Being a '77 elec. shift, it sounds like maybe when your prop hit, it turned some of the internals and maybe shorted out the reverse shift wire. I just got done putting mine all back together, and if it were turned incorrectly, or jarred, the wire could short. Check other things first, because this would mean complete disassembly of the outdrive.
