I'm thinking about buying this boat that is for sale for a $1,000. It has a mercury sport jet 90 engine on it which has a cylinder with broken rings. Does this sound like a good deal and is there a different model engine that I can put in it?
Not familiar with this boat. If you plan to buy a project boat, you will need to be pretty handy to make it worthwhile and even then, there are biats that are just no worth fixing. I'd fnd out what a good running example of that boat is worth, calculate how much you thi nk it'll ocst to fix it, double that, add it to the purchase price and go from there. If you are under the real value of a good running similar boat, it's probably worth fixing.
