Were going to be putting a winch on the front of our trailer...

Tossing a couple ideas around, we can get a big ole electric 12v winch, $500-1k for a good one.

OR, Hydraulic motor, gear reduction winch. Run it off of a 12v hydraulic pump.

I think the big tow trucks all use hydraulic winches off of PTO, what lasts longer?

Winch would be used for either pulling a car up, or pulling logs onto the trailer.

If you already had Hyd.s onboard,.... Ayuh,.. A Hyd. winch would be perfect........
But,..... Why not just Go Electric,... Instead of Elect. Over Hyd........
1 less system to Screw Up.......

The only reason I think of this... good winch almost a grand... you see hydraulic monsters every once in a while pretty cheap. but good point.

A 12 volt Hyd. Pump will set you Way Back,....
And,... You'll need a Battery Pack to run it,......

Alot of those old Monsters are PTO driven,......
Maybe you could mount a 3.0l Merc. on the tongue to run 1 of them.............

Electric winches are a Much Simpler way to go......

By the time you Powered a Monster,..... You'll be spending the Same Money,+ Investing BooCoo More Time into it........
