Hello Everyone,

I have been lurking around here since the beginning of Jan. I love this site, the members offer alot of knowledge and alot of laughs.

Up until the age of 14 I was always around boats, my mom and her husband always had them, and them memories are some of the fondest memories of my childhood, but I left my moms house at the age of 14 and havn't been near a boat since.

From a very very young age, I remember taking the helm of some of my moms boats, but I had never launched or recovered any of there boats.

Now that I have young children of my own ages 8 & 6 I really wanted my kids to experience boating and hopefully build memories similiar to mine, so in Jan. I went out and purched a starter boat for my family.

Its a 2000 Glastron SX 175. The sellers let me nit pick the boat as well as lake test the boat.
After checking everything out and lake testing the boat, I paid for it in full (so that its more fun)

Everyone that I know personally that has experience with the boat loves it and they all say that I got a great deal, some even say that I stole it from the seller. LOL

Anyway I just wanted to thank all the posters here for there wealth of knowledge.

I have learned alot, the most important thing that I have learned that I was totally unaware of is ramp etiquette.

I cant thank you folks enough, after learning the importance of ramp etiquette I then began to research how others launch and recover on there own, from there I also learned alot.

The 1st time out I took one of my best friends out who has alot of boating experience and he was immense help, he too taught me alot.

Since then I have been solo.

The 2nd time out was rough (for me) hilarious for others I'm sure.

3rd time out was alot better.

On my 5th time taking it out, my dad meet me at the lake after I had already been underway for awhile, when it was time to trailer the boat, I dropped him and the kids off at the dock, he took the kids to the restroom, by the time he came back from the restroom with the kids I was just latching the boat onto the trailer and he got to see me load it on my own.

His Exact words were "you already have that down to a art dont ya"

It made me feel good.

And this is gonna sound crazy, but the last 2 times I have had the boat out, I have been able to launch and recover the boat on my own faster than alot of people I see who have help.

Thanks iboats, I couldnt have done it without all of your hints and tips.

(Sorry for the long winded post)
