Outboard on 1982 Carvver 28 (2896)

I need some advice. I took out the inboard engine and transmission. The shaft too. I have 1973 Johnson 135hp outboard that I want to put on it. The problem is: the transom is "paper thin". How do I make the transom stronger for the motor?.
Did any one did that kind of conversion?. Thanks.
