I'll try fixing anything that breaks, it's a combination of a sick fascination with taking things apart and, as my wife would say, "being cheap". If any of you want a real challenge try an all in one computer printer. Tried that a couple months ago and ended up with a handful of small springs that didn't seem to have a home anywhere but it sure wouldn't print without them. It was a sad day admitting defeat on that one.

In 1987 I bought a Maytag dishwasher. It handled Heavy Baked-on Grease, two, three times a day for 22 yrs. Once, because the buttons weren't properly pressed it ran unattended in heating mode for 10 hrs(good thing it didn't catch fire). There was about 3 cups of very thick dirty water at the bottom, but very clean cookie sheets and pans. The only expenses(repairs) it needed in all that time was a new drive belt and a control knob. When the filter cracked/split, whirlpool had taken over maytag and discontinued the parts.
