hemp could be used to make all the paper we need
along with many other products. would be better
than continuing to deforrest the planet IMO.

Re: canada and pot

If you ask me, it should just plain be legalized. To me the only difference between the smoke and the booze is personal preference..neither high is any more intense/dangerous. I went through a period in my life when I didn't drink at all...I smoked while everyone around me drank...made no difference to anyone because they realized it didn't affect one single other part of my life. I didn't mope all day, lose my job, become a pot head LOSER. I did nothing but excell in my life just like anyone else, contrary to the commercials on
TV today.

Oh...and think about all the wonderful tax money! We could start out slow...and raise it and raise it until people just couldn't afford it anymore and quit on their own! Just like cigarettes!

Even aside from that, as mellowyellow stated...because it is illegal here, we get zero benefits from the plant itself. Hemp is one of the strongest fibers and could be used for rope, clothing, paper, on and on and on.

I guess that's the part that really burns me. Any smoker in this country is used to it being illegal...but why do we have to throw the whole thing away and rid ourselves of some benefits. It's a PLANT for crying out loud, not some kind of disease or bomb.

I really think the government is foolish for not legalizing pot.

Look at all the tax dollars they could collect from its legalized sale.

Plus, I have never heard of someone killing someone while driving stoned, yet I hear every day that someone was killed by a drunk driver.

I think pot is the lesser of the 2 evils, and if one is legalized, so should the other.

Besides, pot is natural, alcohol is man-made!!

YES, I use to smoke pot, and although I don't anymore, I still feel that the government is oppressing it's citizens by not legalizing it.

Let's put it on a general election and let the people decide!

Just my opinion, and I don't expect anyone to agree with me, but that's the way I feel.

Hello.
In holland where I lived as a kid it was always semi legal. Its derivatives were used in cough medicine.Smoking some was and is not frowned upon.
For the heck of it somebody should compare drug related crime rates in Holland to the USA ones.Or violent crime rates period.

WHEN it gets legalized I'll burn one with any of ya. Its gonna happen. I'm all for it. People get drunk, some want to fight. I have never seen a mellow person get stoned and want to fight.

Kenneth Brown, "WHEN"? You got "HIGH" hopes. ;)

I think it'll be awhile still before anything like this will happen. Heck, they talked about making cigarettes an illegal drug. But we know that won't happen since booze and cigs line the pockets of our government. They could also make big profits from legalizing pot. The only thing they need is a politician who isn't afraid to run with it.

And, I agree pot heads are usually very mellow. They drive 20 MPH and think they are doing 80 and they couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a shot gun when under the influence.

Its funny to see the direction our laws are going. Smoking Tobacco is becoming more and more difficult with cities like San Francisco banning it altogether. At the same time we see marijuana becoming more and more legalized.

I don't smoke and I can't see how anyone I work with could. I work in an office building where you can't smoke near common areas, entrances, etc. I'm sure some people here smoke, but I have no idea where or how far they have to go to do it.

I like the idea of making it legal and taxing the hell out of it, like tobacco. Where there is demand for something, you'll never stop the supply, this is the basis of capitalism. That goes for anything, drugs, alcohol, guns, porn... Prohibition is a fine example of this. Somebody is going to make a profit off of it, I think it should be the American farmer, businessman and the government. Illegalizing it is creating an enviroment for orgainized crime and tax evasion, at the expense of the tax payer dime and law enforcement time.

origional fabric for levi's included hemp as well.
just think what it would mean to farmers! the stuff
grows like a weed, and requires almost no care
or pesticides.

Re: canada and pot

I have to dissagree with you guys on the fact the weed and booze are the same. Weed done braine damage, I can usally tell if I'm talking to a pothead, the stuff makes you stupid. I'm stupid enough already, I don't need any more help :D

After drinkning booze and quitting you will still be smart and for the most part sharp. Look at all the hippeys around who smoked weed in their teens, now that they are in there 50's they are all burnt out.

Glad I never took up any of the filthy habits!

:D

Legalize? That's a good question.
I know many who do use it for both medical and recreational use.
The government will never get rid of it or win the 'war' on it, so they might as well give it up.

Register all potheads, keep it in your home, and if you get caught elsewhere (like driving or not being a registered user) toss them in jail and fine them enough to where their grandkids will still be paying!

H.
