Pretty useless technology is you live or travel through areas w/o any signal at all. I believe there have been 4 or 5 deaths this year along the NY State Northway due to no signal.

Well, we can get our vhf radios to automatically transmit our gps position to rescue agencies if we are in trouble at sea. We can get our autos to do the same with the OnStar and similar systems.

What's to prevent that technology from being incorporated into cell phones? The danged things can do everything else except wash our underwear.

Of course, that wouldn't solve a no-signal problem. You would need a sat phone to do that.
