Cup and Trucks are running at Michigan this weekend, while X-Men are staying on a road course for one more week at Mid-Ohio. For Trucks this is the final regular season race and the playoff field will be set tomorrow afternoon.

Michigan weather looks OK with a slight increase in the chance of rain Sunday. But who knows?

News And Notes
  • Penalty Report - Nothing of note for Cup or X-Men, just loose nuts. But Sheldon Creed's truck lost a 60 lb. chunk of tungsten ballast during practice before the Eldora Dirt Derby. The team is losing 3 team members but no points.
  • A Streak - Erik Jones vowed after finishing 23rd in the Coke Zero 400 in ?July, that he would score 30 or more points per race to make the playoffs. Since then he placed in the top 5 in 4 consecutive races and is 13th in points with a 54 point lead over the 16th cutoff spot. Will his streak continue at Michigan?
  • TV ratings - 1.7 overnight rating, last year's race on NBC was 2.3. 2017 on NBCSN got a 1.9 for Dale Jr's last Cup race at The Glen.

iBoats Fantasy Live
  • At Watkins Glen a squirrel found his 3rd acorn of the year.
  • In the overall standing, justkiddin 5 and FlaCowboy are in a give a little, take a little battle. JK5 took a little at the Glen and leads by 29 points with 4 races left in the regular season. Guessing that Fantasy Live will be broken into regular and playoffs like last year.
  • iFL pole locks at 5 PM EST today.

Good Luck iFLer's

1st Cup practice results - Austin Dillon, then Keso was second, Johnson, Bowman and Hemric.

Johnson expects an apology from Blaney after Johnson cut down on Blaney and is saying Blaney should have given way to to him. Without saying exactly, Blaney's response is "Get bent". :) Jimmie - It was 5 days ago and it's time for you to work on making the playoffs.

Keso grabs the pole. Harvick will start second, then Byron, Bowman, Bowyer, Elliott, ADillon, Blaney, Joey and Menard.

2 Cup practices tomorrow along with Trucks at MIS and X-Men at Mid-Ohio.

If you're gonna cheat, don't get caught.

Austin Dillons and Daniel Hemric got nailed with L1 penalties following qualifying because, get this, they didn't have working alternators. Those couple of horsepower cost them a #7 and #11 starting spot because their times were set to zero. 25K fine for both crew chiefs and 10 driver and 10 owner point deducts. Both are RCR cars and who outed them?

Nascar had the alarm set to Early, 1st Cup practice began around 8:30.

Results - Harvick, TWT, Byron, Jones, Joey, Bowyer, Johnson, Busch1, Menard and Hamlin.

Final Cup practice begins around 11:30 followed by the Truck race at 1PM.

Final practice top 5 - Jones, Bowman, Harvick, ADillon and Suarez.

Dillon and his team mate Hemric will start at the back for the L1 penalty. Suarez had a tire go down and kissed the wall during the final practice. Crew is repairing the car, so no backup at this point. iFL locks at 3:15 tomorrow.

Trucks coming up on MRN/FS1 right now.

In the Truck race - Hill wins the race and Enfinger wins the regular season crown by just starting the race.

On the final restart there was a heck of a wreck involving a bunch of trucks. Chastain won the 1st heat and wrecked his truck beyond repair as he came down pit road.

X-Men at Mid-Ohio in just a bit.

Cindric wins the X-Race at Mid-Ohio. He won last week at The Glen, too.

Don't forget to set your iFL roster by 3:15 tomorrow.

Chastain, didn't wreck his truck, it started with Johnny and his rookie move, driving someone else into him. X boys ran a good race today, it was fun seeing him get his second career win in as many weeks.

Drivers to the rear today: #77-Smithley (driver change), #19-Truex, Jr (failed pre-race inspection twice), #32-LaJoie (transmission change), #36-Tifft (transmission change)

And ADillon and Hemric for the alternator trick.

Slight change in iFL lock time - Moved up to 3:11PM. Does that mean I can go to bed 4 minutes earlier? :D

Johnson kisses the wall and makes a long green flag repair stop.

Keso has led the 1st 20 laps with Harvick about 1.5 sec. back. Pit stops should be starting about lap 40 or so.

Harvick has a flat and is a lap down. No yellows so far and Keso still leads on lap 38.

Green flag pit stops have cycled through. Truex has the lead after coming from the back with his inspection woes.

Truex holds Hamlin off for only his 3rd heat win this year. Caution free race so far.

After green flag stops, KJeso has a tire go and spins with a trip through the grass. 1st real yellow with 4 laps to go in the heat.

TWT wins heat 2 and as the flag flew mayhem erupted about mid-pack. 3 or more cars spinning and wrecking.
