The two guys with the RV's and the boats in their truck beds are sure to turn heads, but seems like a good way to skirt towing length laws. The person with the bike, and the guy on the motorcycle are probably more dedicated at boating than I'll ever be.

Now the people in the Escort with the boat strapped to their roof sitting on an old egg crate mattress.... That's style right there.

" Don't worry honey we can get a trailer anywhere."

The only ones I have a problem with are:
the dually Toyota with tires surely rubbing the fenders and likely just long spacers on each lug between the wheels....
And the bicycle since the home built pipe trailer counts on the pipe threads for the hitch.... The bike can't lean and as such the threads will be heavily stressed in corners.... A little speed in a down hill turn and things could get bad fast....

LOL just noticed the fenders strapped to the transom of the boat in the Toyota..... Extra flotation?? A wee bit waterlogged maybe????!

Edit: the tie downs for the car top boat prolly are a bit lacking.

Yeah extra flotation on his boat, extrat tires on his mini truck, I'm thinking neither of those are really doing their job well.

The one that gives me concern, is the Motorcycle on the Interstate.
The first time he tries to brake hard, the Tail isn't going to Wag the Dog, it is going command, "Roll Over, Play Dead! "

Thanks for posting....most interesting to say the least. My wife and I visit Amish country every fall and see some interesting things there as well. In keeping with their culture I chose not to take pics but you should see the boat trailer setups being towed by horse and buggy!! They are an ingenious people to live their lifestyle.

Contrary....many of the buggies towing boats do have small gas and electric motors on them. I was quite surprised myself but the majority do have motors.

We have a lot of Amish in my area and I have never seen a boat with a motor on it, in fact all of them around here seem to have hand made wood row boats, I have a set of hand made oars that I bought from one of the families in our area.

I wish I had a picture of the state patrol, when I went by him pulling my 9n tractor,on a car hauler, with a ford tempo...lol. Stupid human trick,,,,yup. Never do that again,25 mph or lose control, for 15 miles. The officer just watched me go by,and thought" I suppose I should stop him but hey,he's just another idiot....

Our Amish territory is in eastern Ohio and south from there so I don't know if there are different beliefs in the community about motors or not. In our travels thru the area most of the boats are small aluminum rowboats with electric motors on them, but a surprising number of them have a gas engine on them. Nothing fancy Like an E-TEC or anything but normally an older gas motor. A few have had wooden boats but most are alum...probably easier for the horse to pull.

It's not the engine that's the problem, it's the rubber tires. I live near a large Amish community here in Iowa and a lot of them have farm tractors with steel wheels.

I took this picture at a local ramp, what you can't see is one guy has a cig dangling out of his mouth. They could have at least undone that stern strap first. No truck launch.jpg
