Fast idle

My '97 SeaDoo GTI idle is way too high, on the order of 2500rpm. I bought it at the end of last season, ran it a couple of times, even though the idle was high, and then put it up for the winter. Today, I had it on the trailer in the driveway and I got it cranked, but the engine idles so high that I'm worried that I will blow something.

I adjusted the mechanical throttle a little bit by putting some slack in the linkage at the carb, but that didn't change anything.

Anyone have any ideas? I don't mind taking it to the local shop, but if it is something simple that I can fix, it would be a whole lot quicker and cheaper.

Thanks,

Re: Fast idle

I believe thats normal, in water it should drop to around 12 - 1500rpm.

Re: Fast idle

It will idle at close to 3500 RPM out of the water, because there's no load on the impeller. In the water, it should be 1300-1500 RPM.

Thanks guys. I'll get it in the water this weekend and check it out.
