I need to do a little carb tuning on my 95 waverunner 500. Does anyone know what a good starting point for the mixture screw settings should be? I notice there are two screws, on in the front, and one in the rear. The thing runs well once you get it started, but you have to crack the throttle a bit when starting with choke or it will flood, and it is a real dog when you hit the throttle. It acts like it is running a bit rich.

Thanks

Re: Waverunner 500 carb help

I have the service manual for that water craft (i have a 94 waverunner III)....it has a chart with the spec for the mixture screws (sadly, i dont have it on me now, Ill have to check later). From my waverunner project...I have found that it is best to set the screws to the spec and leave them....the spec is for a stock engine on that craft and if the craft starts to run poorly or rich or lean, its probably a carb in need of a rebuild....messing around with the mixture screws may help or hurt, but it will just 'cover up' the actual problem.
