1995 seadoo xp. Erratic acceleration.

I recently bought a 95 xp with the 717 motor.
First time i took it out out was great. The second time
the acceleration was very erratic, with bursts of full speed
then revs dying off then back to full speed.

I took it out today for the third time and it would not reach
anywhere near full speed, eventually limping in at wake speed
doing 4000 rpm.

Yes it has the original gray gas lines and it's not been converted to
pre-mix, however it the 4000 rpm at wake speed that confuses me.

Does that mean a jet pump issue or dirty carbs or both ?

Revs fine out of water.

Id change out them grey lines and rebuild carbs,I bet you find all kind of green goo and black particles in the screens in both carbs.Then go from there.

Also the on/off/reserve switch will have lots of green goo in as well.Clean everything good and im sure your problem will be gone.Ive seen a few times that ski only goes in spurts and never goes over 4000 rpms.

Any 1/4" fuel line..any local hardware or auto parts store will have it.Im thinking I had 16ft of 1/4" fuel line and replace the clamps too.Need (16) 5/16 or 3/8 clamps
