2000 GTX RFI 5648 will not charge the battery. It is an almost new battery. I removed the battery, filled with distilled water and fully charged it. I cleaned the battery leads and the plug in leads on the module and then started the machine. With a digital VOM attached to the battery the voltage fell to around 11 when starting but when started the VOM did not show an increase in voltage beyond 12.53 while machine was running. Any ideas?

To determine if your battery is good you need to get something to put a load on the battery such as a automotive head light. If the voltage keeps dropping under a load then you have a junk battery. It should only drop a little and hold a pretty steady voltage.

Testing showed that the rectifier was bad. I bought a new aftermarket rectifier from WILLIESCYCLE on ebay. Worked perfectly at less than half the dealer price.
