Hey everyone,

A friend of mine is selling a 13-1/4"x17 pitch and 14"x21 pitch props.

It's a screaming Deal.... the 17 pitch seems in spec, but I'm unsure of the 14" prop..So I would like to ask advice if it's worth the purchase.

Currently have a 1978 140HP Evinrude with a 13"x19 Pitch, and WOT does 5500RPM so its perfect... it's pushing a 17.5FT glass bowrider.
Would this 14" be to much? It's brand new and 80$ for both.

Thanks in advance,

-M

The 21 might be for a 4 3/4" gearcase (V6 style). If it's hubbed for Evin/John it'll have a 13 spline to fit your V4. If it has a 15 spline OMC hub it's for the larger gearcase.

Thanks for the reply.

It's a 13 spline.
Just checked it out, the prop number is 176216.
Will this one fit? If so will my engine be ok running it?
Thanks again

Nothing technical to add, but I had that 140 (1980 version) and with a 2:1 gear ratio that 21 will probably make it lug, and at the very least, you'd probably end up with a sloppy hole shot. The 13x19 would probably give you better top end- it's what I ended up using. I also had a 13x17 and it was too small. Granted, my fiberglass is much heavier and 20ft.

176216 changes to a prop that is 13 1/4 x 21 so yes it will fit on the shaft. I doubt the motor will be in the right rpm band without (at least) some set up changes.
