I replaced my Merc 40 2 stroke with a Honda BF50 and am having issues proping in correctly. It had a 13" pitch wide blade HONDA OEM prop that I repitched to 14" with cup, but I am still over rev'ing a bit and performance is not that good. Dogs out completely with Honda fin or Doelfin.

Anyone know anything out Honda clever type props. They make one in 11.5 dia by 14.25 pitch. 58130-zv5-870za. The wide blade prop is showing burn marks with only a small amount of use.

Boat did over 40 with the merc, and I am trying to get back to that.

Back to the top. Anyone have any input. What prop are you running with a 40,45 or 50 that does around 40MPH? SNOKING

I can't believe that no one has an opinion on this. Anyone compared the stock Honda prop that looks a little like a klever to the wide eared shock prop? SNOKING

I think I am going to try the 15 pitch Honda Prop. I am surprised tha no one has any input on this. Anyone running a 15 pitch prop on a 40 or 50 horse? SNOKING

Well Snoking I have a 45 horse of mid 90's vintage (was told it was a '96) on a 1969 vintage Glasspar vee hull runabout, and it tachs 5800-6000 depending on current with two 180 lb guys and a tank of gas in it. It came with a 13 pitch aluminum on it, I plan to go up to a 15 to drop the RPM some. I only had my GPS on it once and it was doing 30ish at 6000. I guesstimate my boat to wiegh in at about 1200# plus the two passengers.

I guess both of us will be pioneering new ground, it suprises me when I post Honda probs there are only a couple guys with Honda experience.

Honda mechanic is like the Maytag guy.

15 inch will be to much for your application. I bought a 1968 15' Bellboy with the 2005 Honda 50 on it and it was running the 13 inch prop. I tested again this week and can hit 6200. This is with a 13 inch prop repitched to 14 with a little cup. I would think that 13 is about right for your boat. You could try a 14 inch prop, but you will loose a little bottom end. SNOKING
