just curious if people have done this before or if it will work..
in need of a new prop and saw a stainless cleaver prop online for really cheap in great condition. Will these work on a mercruiser alpha one drive? I know they’re made to keep bow lift down but will it hurt anything if i used it?

Don't know if clever props are suited to power just outboards or can work ok powering inboards ?

If the later, assume that as long the engine runs at middle to max wot rpm range factory stated for that engine will be alright, will need to be water tested as loaded to find that out for yourself...

Depends on the hull, weight and what you use boat for. Not a good ski prop but sold a ton of them on 18ft Checkmates!!!!

Tunnel hulls and what were described as a 'pickle fork' hull were prone to catching too air and resulted in back flips. The cleaver blade props tended to lift the stern of a boat rather than the bow and worked very well on those boats. They also worked quite well when run partially submerged. Might be a reasonable choice for some Pontoon boats. On a Vee hull, there are other props that are better, but lots of boats are running with less than then the Optimum prop and the owners are happy in their lack of knowing so
