this is a 15x17 on a 230 HP Stringer 800. I GPS ed at 39 MPH.
I don't have an accurate rpm number, my tach is off. The boat is a 1984 Century 3000. 19ft Bow rider. I bought a used 15x17 omc prop with no dings in it, I'll try that one this week end, I'll try and get a good rpm reading as well.
Half tank of gas and me, 215lbs, (and shrinking), in the boat.

Things that can happen when a prop gets too nicked up. Performance would be the least of the issues. When your prop gets badly nicked and bent, balance is thrown out if left field and that does more damage to bearings and seal then actual boating performance. If you think yours is to that point, have it rebuilt and balanced again. Your engine will love you for it... JMHO!

I recently purchased a Cobalt with duo props. I had not noticed a nick in the inner prop. The boat seemed sluggish out of the hole, and felt rough running at about 3000 RPM ~ 30 MPH. When I was having the boat serviced I noticed the nick, and that it was creating cavitation burns on the outer prop. I had them sent out, and resurfaced. Not only did it feel much smoother out of the hole, but it lowered the RPM's at 30 MPH to under 3000 RPM, and I have seen my top end increase by almost 4 MPH as well as fuel consumption improvement. $ 390 to resurface vs. $1000 for a new set of props. Hope this helps.

I bought a used prop, same diameter and pitch as the old chewed up one. As soon as my broken arm allows me, I'll post the results.

Just to follow up. I went out with a friend and achieved 38mph. So add 190lbs and I lost 1 MPH.
I'm have yet to get an accurate rpm reading. I bought a tiny tach but due to a PS pump and cooler failure, I can't get back on the water.
It's hard to work on things with one arm. Surgery, they put a plate in there. I'm hoping to get out next weekend. I really want to get good rpm and speed numbers so I can properly prop this thing.

39 MPH on a 19 foot bow rider with over 200 horsepower sucks. You should be getting up over 50. Hell, I am getting over 40 on a 21 foot cuddy with a 150 HP engine!

Get a tachometer. Check compression on the engine. Check spark and fuel delivery to be certain all cylinders are firing. THEN if all is well experiment with props.

Im no expert at all when it comes to boats yet. But just for nimbers sake. I have a 16 foot bow rider with a 90 hp that does 40mph. I would think that a 230hp would be WELL into the 50mph range for sure. Your boat is only 3 feet longer then mine and has basically 140 exrtra hp.

I have an old 17 ft runabout, I have a 1978 Johny 115 on it, That boat does 46 gps MPH. So yea.
I know this boat is going to be quite a bit heavier. Like I said, I'll know more when I can get good RPM numbers.
I'm pretty sure It needs a different prop to get the most out of it.

Sounds about right for the 115hp. I have had my 90hp at 41 mph gps. And with some fone tuning. Im hoping for 42-43mph.
