Sounds like you're on the right track. I've been completely, totally spoiled by the 4 stroke engines. You might have a look at Honda, as well as the Merc and Yammi. All 3 very popular. If your plan is to have this thing a while, look into the deck material used. Ply lasts a long time, but plastic and aluminum last a lot longer. Vinyl floor coverings are taking over where carpet used to be king. Easier to keep clean for sure. Dark colors, on ANYTHING get hot on sunny days. These guys with black boats and black bimini tops will struggle justifying their color choices on a hot day....
Check out the bottom of the toons for what will see the wear when beaching. Something protecting the toon from front to rear a good plan. Check out the spray fins for how they are attached. They're constantly being bumped. Some are just butt weded to the tube and are not very sturdy. Others may have a lip that gives the weld much more strength.
Last, I wouldn't buy a boat that didn't have a ladder permanently mounted in the right rear corner. That's another item that will spoil you. No more messing with a ladder. Unsnap it, flip it down, and you're ready to go. Make sure the steps are wide enough to be comfortable on your bare feet! 1" square tubing doesn't cut it!
